WEB CONTENT WRITING
BLOG AND WEBSITE MANAGEMENT
EMAIL MARKETING
Hey, that’s me!
My name is Lauren Rabalais, and I’m a versatile digital marketer and college graduate with three years of experience collaborating with start-up sales and marketing departments in the financial services industry. I’m looking to take my career in a different direction and diversify my content writing skills in a new area.
Within the digital marketing space, I’ve established a proven track record of independently managing multiple marketing channels, including social media, website/blog content, and email campaigns. I also have significant experience in graphic design, video editing, web design and SEO keyword analysis.
In my free time, I enjoy going on nature walks, searching for new experiences, playing board games over homemade cocktails, baking sweets and curling up with a good video game— my favorites are The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, Earthbound, Undertale and Persona 5 Royal.
What makes me, well, ME?

In Fall 2020, I earned my Bachelor’s of Science in Digital Media Innovation from Texas State University, graduating Summa cum Laude with a 3.97 GPA. I also pursued a minor in writing, focusing specifically on creative writing and copyediting.
For all seven semesters of my time at Texas State, I was accepted onto the Dean’s List. During my junior year in 2019, I was awarded a $1000 merit scholarship by the department of Mass Communication and Journalism for my outstanding GPA and . In 2020, I was hand-selected by the department (and nominated by my two-time professor, the wonderful Debra Price) to work on Texas State’s SXSW Brand & Marketing content team, but South by Southwest was ultimately canceled that year due to COVID-19.
I dabbled for some time in two university choirs: first, the “Texas State Treble Singers,” and later on, I was accepted into the more prestigious “Texas State University Singers.” After spending a couple semesters with the University Singers, I moved on to intern with Texas State University’s radio station, KTSW 89.9. Leading up to my graduation, I worked in their web content department as a blog contributor and copyeditor. I earned the “Best Article of Spring 2020” award by the web content department for writing and completing their very first multi-chapter fictional story on their blog.

Quite introverted (unless you get me talking about my passions), I typically prefer to stay out of the spotlight. But, despite that, I’ve learned how to succeed directly within the spotlight.
I’ve been singing since I was seven years old, performing with many choirs throughout my childhood— more than you could count with both hands. As I got older, I eventually became a section leader within a few of those groups. Most notably, I was the alto section leader for the Children’s Chorus of Collin County (specifically, their high school branch, the Youth Chorus) for three years, in which I acted as a personal and musical role model for the members of my section.
I have over a decade of experience as a solo performer, and, when I was a senior in high school, I was accepted into the highly-competitive TMEA All-State Choir for my vocal performance. I participated in two more choirs during college: the Texas State Womens’ Choir and the University Singers. Though I’m not currently pursuing a music career, my background choral and section leader experience helped me develop strong leadership and stage presence skills.

Ah, yes, the age-old interview question. Here are some lengthy answers you never asked for!
STRENGTHS:I am self-managed. Once my role is defined, I will naturally sink into it without needing much guidance. I have performed in independent, specialized roles for nearly my entire career so far. My strong sense of integrity, my pride in my work and my people-pleasing tendencies all keep me in check to make me a very responsible and disciplined employee.
I am highly intuitive and insightful. In just about every aspect of my life, I enjoy looking beyond the surface to find the deeper meaning of things. I love researching new topics, and I am intensely analytical, often caught deep in thought. Though I’m a very creative person, I’m equally logical, and my ideal role would provide me the opportunity to exercise both facets of myself.
I am empathetic and a peacemaker. I won’t back down from initiating conflict when I think it’s absolutely necessary, but otherwise, maintaining harmony amongst my peers is incredibly important to me. In situations of conflict, you’d probably find me acting as the mediator, doing what I can to resolve the dispute with equity.
WEAKNESSES:
I am very self-critical. Often holding myself to incredibly steep expectations, I can be unfairly hard on myself and the quality of my work. My immense standards have previously led to lowered self-esteem, and, on occasion, burnout. But, for better or for worse, I am duty-bound to constantly improve.
I am quite introverted. Making and receiving phone calls is a challenge for me, and I tend to hold my tongue in group settings. That isn’t to say I don’t work well with others, however; though I prefer to work alone, I enjoy building meaningful relationships while working on projects with my peers. I’m also a very efficient and harmonious team member, often naturally falling into leadership positions despite my introversion. I’m not the most talkative or outgoing person, but I am certainly an excellent strategist and presenter.
I am somewhat of a people pleaser. I care a lot about not disappointing the people around me, so I might occasionally go out of my way to avoid conflict or commit to something that I may not have time for. I tend to stretch my boundaries a bit too far to make other people happy, sometimes prioritizing their feelings above my own desires or needs.
I’M A SKILLED WRITER, HAVING WORKED ON BLOGS, NEWSLETTERS, AND WEBSITE COPY…
Here is one of the many blogs I wrote for PetroLedger Financial Services, a bookkeeping company providing outsourced accounting services across the upstream and midstream sectors of the oil & gas industry. This article provides answers to some commonly-asked questions about PetroLedger and the services they offer.
If you’d like to see one of my creating writing endeavors, feel free to check out the first part of a short story I wrote for my senior creative writing seminar while I was studying at Texas State University. Please note that this piece is fairly long, about 4000 words. (Warning: moderate gore and minor foul language)
Here is another example of the blog content I wrote for PetroLedger Financial Services. This article highlights five red flags that frequently plague small and midsize oil exploration and production companies, providing readers with the opportunity to schedule a consultation with PetroLedger’s sales team.
…AND, ALONG THE WAY, I GAINED A FEW YEARS OF SOCIAL MEDIA EXPERIENCE.
I HAVE OTHER SKILLS, TOO, LIKE VIDEO EDITING AND GRAPHIC DESIGN…
…AND I HAVE A COUPLE YEARS OF EXPERIENCE MANAGING WORDPRESS SITES AND DESIGNING FOR WEBSITE REBRANDS.
My previous employer, PetroLedger Financial Services’ website in 2021.
